hello old friend
I started a new job in December and it’s the best change I could have made! I was with my previous company for so long and the lack of moral and leadership was enough to kill my spirit and my ambition. After 8.5 years, I bid them adieu. The managerial staff was completely incompetent and is not suited to fill those roles. Sadly, in most cases it’s about who you know and who’s ass you kiss that gets you to where you want to go. Anyone that knows me knows that I wouldn’t do that. It’s like selling my dignity for a chance to take a step up. No thank you! I’ll just work smarter and harder. My new position, however, is amazing! I work with amazing people! I have amazing bosses that work hard to keep morale and a healthy work environment. Again, that was BEST thing I could do for my wellness.
Well, I started off 2021 by getting COVID! I made it almost an entire year without being infected! My experience with COVID was not severe. I was quarantined for two weeks and I had mild symptoms. The worst thing for me was losing my smell for about three days! The fever scared me a little because it wouldn’t go down but other than that, I was fine. There were moments when I sat there scared and wondering if I would be ok, especially after seeing so many stories about people dying from COVID. Why was I so special? I truly feel so blessed and so lucky that I was not severely affected by the virus and continue to feel so blessed every day. Yes, I still wear my mask and I will continue to do so if it is needed for the greater good.
After being able to return to my new job after quarantine, I’ve had a blast! I’ve met so many new clients that are the sweetest, kindest people I’ve met. The way they look at you as if you’re going to change the world makes me want to get up every morning and continue to do what I do. We’ve gone through some changes at work like moving to a new location. However, we aren’t completely settled in yet and are having to work in one big room at a table with no permanent workspace yet, I know the wait will be worth it. I’ve gotten so close to my coworkers and learned so much about their lives outside of work. They are great in their own special, unique way. Here’s to so many more years of growth and hope.
My life is pretty lowkey and I don’t do much besides work, homework, and hike so the only other thing that’s changed is that I am now in school full time instead of halftime. It’s challenging; however, I welcome that challenge. I can’t wait to finish so that I can start my master’s program! It’s going to be a fun, stressful time!
I hope the world is better than when I last posted. I hope you are happy & fulfilled.
Don’t be afraid to make changes for your wellness.
Light & Love
