About Me

Humble Beginnings

I’m Julien.  I’ve never considered myself a “professional” writer or a great one.  When I write it’s usually from the heart and often you may find mistakes in my writing.  Some punctuational related mistakes are on purpose for the sake of creativity.  Since about the age of 15, I kept a journal.  I didn’t really feel I had much to write about, or at least not events that I was comfortable enough to write on paper.  In my writing you will notice a common reference and that is of my grandparents.  I was lucky enough to live with them until their passing.  My grandfather a romantic and my grandmother a disciplinarian.  So, I was raised with a balance of romanticism and reality.

The Blog With Dark Beginnings

I first started blogging after I moved out on my own for the first time in my 30’s.  In the past I had some bad relationships which cost me to lose some of my most precious journals.  Let’s just say that their insecurities caused them to throw some of my oldest journals in my fireplace.  So, after that I started to keep my journals in storage or at work.  Then about October of 2017, I decided to bring them here.  That way no one could ever burn my words again.  No one could take them away from me.  I don’t believe I’m the greatest writer, nor do I believe that my words are worthy of praise.  I just felt like if I could just write them out on my blog, someone would probably relate and appreciate them.  So here we are.  I hope you enjoy reading them.  Any and all feedback is welcome.  If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.

Who I Am Now

I, like every one of you have a journey, have a history, have a story.  Who I am today is partially based on my past experiences and memories.  The majority is based on me forcing myself out of my comfort zone and relearning so many things I was taught to believe as a child.  I honestly believe that if you take time for yourself and educate yourself daily, that will give you a better understanding about the world and not just about the world around you.   In The Story That Built Me, you’ll read about many of my memories growing up.  I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoyed writing them.
