strangers

Do you ever think about the people you randomly meet throughout your life?  For example, that woman you helped change her flat tire on the side of the road.  Or that mother you saw walking with her children in the rain and offered a ride to.  That homeless man you saw outside a restaurant and offered to buy him lunch and you sat with him and talked about life.  Or someone you get in an elevator with and had a lifetime conversation within the 42 seconds it took to get to your floor.

Are they happy?  Are they healthy?
Did she ever get her car fixed?
Did they ever take that trip back home?
Did they ever get those other three tires replaced, because they were in bad condition?

Being considerate of each other shouldn’t be the exception, but the rule.  Be kind for no reason and without needing the social media justification.  If you want to do a kind deed, put down your phone and pick up your heart.  Many times, we need to be praised for being a decent human being.  We should work on being a decent human being without being praised.  Go out of your way and ask that person how they’re doing.  Ask your coworker how their weekend was.  Cook out with your neighbors.  You’d be surprised on how much you have in common.

Especially in the world that exists now, it is important to find and hold on to kindness wherever you may find it.
