Connections
When’s the last time you’ve had a conversation with someone?
Not just a “Hey, how are you?” and you secretly hope they respond with a “good” and not into an actual conversation!
For those of you who know me, know that I can talk. A lot.
Recently, I’ve had the privilege to meet a few people in which I have had wholesome conversations with. The kind of conversations that cause you to loose track of time and you get kicked out of the coffee shop or restaurant because it’s passed closing time!
One in particular, we’ve taken our conversations to the trails! Talking and trekking is what I call it. Have you ever had someone listen with just more than their ears? Having someone listen with their heart is a completely exhilarating experience. Have you ever had someone look at you so deeply that it pierces your existence? As if you already know that no matter what happens they will be a part of your life for quite some time.
For me, the best way I for me to know that a conversation is real and meaningful is to simply look into that persons eye. Feel what they feel and hear what they hear. Put the phone down and disconnect from everything EXCEPT from that soul sitting in front of you, asking to be heard.
As a society we’re so good at making “connections”. Where we measure how connected we are by the number of followers on our social media platforms or the number of likes on a picture. We have to make our lives count for so much more than that. Having a real connection is vital to our well being. After all, love is the first real connection we have when coming into this world.
Thanks for reading if you’re out there.
